Matilda, The Musical, set to open in Manila on March 5, 2020

The international tour of Matilda, The Musical is set to open in Manila on March 5, 2020 at The Theatre at Solaire, it was announced on Nov. 25, 2019.

Months ahead of its opening in Manila, tickets will be on sale to the general public from 3 pm of Nov. 26, 2019.

GWB Entertainment along with GMG Productions and Virtus Live are bringing Matilda to Manila for the 1st time.

The stage adaptation of the much loved Roald Dahl classic was originally produced for the stage by the Royal Shakespeare Co. (RSC).

Promoters of Matilda are urging the public to sign up for the GMG Newsletter. The signing up will enable one to be among the first to purchase tickets to the show, with a special discount.

Tickets will be exclusively accessible to those who are part of the newsletter registry from Nov. 26, 2019 between 10 AM to 2 PM.

Tickets go on sale to the public beginning Nov. 26, 2019 at 3 PM.

Also, the producers are launching the “Tuesday Special: One price across all orchestra seats, and one price across all balcony seats” promotion.

Matilda, the Musical is the multi-awarded musical from the RSC, inspired by the beloved book written by Roald Dahl.

With book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, Matilda The Musical is the story of an extraordinary little girl who is armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind and dared to take a stand and change her own destiny.

Winner of over 85 international awards, including 16 for Best Musical, Matilda The Musical is now in its 7th year in London where it continues to delight audiences of all ages.

Matilda, the Musical was commissioned by the RSC in 2010, and is the recipient of a record-breaking seven 2012 Olivier Awards, including Best Musical and a joint Best Actress Award for the four girls who shared the title role.

Based on the beloved story by the Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr. Fox), Matilda, the Musical is directed by Tony Award® winner Matthew Warchus, who helms this exhilarating and ingenious production with book by playwright Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Australian comedian, musician, and composer Tim Minchin.

Matilda, the Musical premiered at the RSC’s home in Stratford-upon-Avon, playing to sold-out audiences from November 2010 to January 2011.

Capturing the imagination of young and old alike, the RSC transferred the production to London’s West End in October 2011 where the show continues to play to sold-out houses at the Cambridge Theatre. 

Roald Dahl’s magical story about a girl with extraordinary powers has been a favorite novel of millions of people across the world since it was published in 1988.

The production has sets and costumes by Tony Award® winner Rob Howell, with choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Tony Award® winner Hugh Vanstone, and sound by Simon Baker.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Roald Dahl (1916-1990) was the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG and many more of the world’s best-loved children’s stories. He remains one of the world’s greatest storytellers and is celebrated annually by the world’s biggest author-based event, Roald Dahl Day – which is recognized across the globe on 13th September.

His first children’s story, James and the Giant Peach, published in 1961 and was a huge hit. Every subsequent book became a best-seller.
