Opening tonight, Dec. 13, 2019, is the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ “Cinema Under the Stars,” a three-night special event fusing screenings of several of the best Cinemalaya and Gawad Alternatibo films with Ephesus Teatron Group Tribu and PWU Indayog Gongs performances.
Among the Cinemalaya films to be featured are Diskarte by Mich Cervantes and Agu Crisostomo; Asan Si Lolo Me? by Sari Estrada; Paper Cut by Patricia Baguio Camino; Pan De Salawal by Che Espiritu; Maligaya Sana Ang Pasko (by RESBAK); Christmas In Our Hearts Reloaded (by RESBAK); Ekstra by Jeffrey Jeturian; Sa Saiyang Isla by Christian Candelaria; Doon Sa Kabila Ng Bulkan by Ellen Ramos; Ang Maangas, Ang Marikit, at Ang Makata by Jose Ibarra Guballa; and Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank by Marlon Rivera.
The CCP said the special event is one of the ways that it makes Filipinos “feel the Pinoy Christmas spirit” as it showcases local Filipino artistry “surrounded by glittering parols and featuring performances” which are parts of Sinag: Festival of Radiance.
Admission is free. So the CCP is encouraging film enthusiasts to bring not only your family and friends, but your whole barangay.
It also advised to bring your own banig or mat.
“Laugh, cry, and feel the love from our film offerings,” the CCP said.
